Remembering Beverly Clark
Billings Studio Theatre has suffered a great loss with the passing of
Beverly Clark. Bev was a member of an original play reading group in the
early 50s that later became Billings Studio Theatre. Bev served on the B.S.T.
Board of Directors countless years and was Board President in 1978. She was
an active member of Supporting Cast, a group of women who has done
everything in the theatre from mailings and staffing the Box Office to
raising money. She served as their President several times over the years as
well as performing in their shows. Bev was a very social person and
delighted in holding the spring meetings of Supporting Cast in her home here
in Billings, or, when feasible, at "the ranch" in Fishtail. If she wasn't on
stage, you would find her in the basement Costume shop making order out of
chaos. Bev played the role of Myrtle Mae Simmons in BST's production of
Harvey in 1957. In the 1979 production of Arsenic and Old Lace,
she played Martha, and in the 2001 production of the same show she played
Abigail. Bev has performed in such popular productions as Steel
Magnolias, Picnic, Mornings at Seven, and BST's Dark Night production of
Three Viewings. She received the Best Actress Award for her roles in
Life with Father and On Golden Pond. In 1994 she received the
Bruce K. Meyers Award in recognition of years of Excellence on the BST
stage. Bev, you will be greatly missed.
The
Billings Studio Theatre dedicates the 2011-2012 season of plays to
Beverly
Clark.
