      Froggy and Charlie are guests at a fishing lodge in rural Tilghman County, Georgia. The shy Charlie agreed to accompany Froggy on the trip after his sick wife begged him to go. when people at the lodge try to talk to Charlie, however, he remains silent: terribly shy and depressed about his wife’s illness, he cannot find the words to reply. Froggy clams that Charlie cannot talk because he is a “foreigner” form an exotic country and doesn’t understand English. Taking the explanation as fact, the lodge’s guests quickly begin revealing their secrets, and Charlie soon discovers scandals amongst some of the residents of the lodge.

     Mortimer Brewster is living a happy life: he has a steady job at a prominent New York newspaper, he’s just become engaged, and gets to visit his sweet spinster aunts to announce the engagement. Mortimer always knew that his family had a bit of a mad gene, (his brother believes himself to be Teddy Roosevelt) but his world is turned upside down when he realized hat his dear aunts have been poisoning lonely old men for years! When Mortimer’s maniacal brother Jonathan, returns on the night that the aunts are planning to bury the newest victim, Mortimer must rally to help his aunts and protect his fiancee, all while trying to keep his own sanity as well.

Poking fun at theatrical aspirations and egos, Ruthless! The Musical is the story of the young and adorable Tina, who has big talent and the ego to match. Encouraged by her manger, Sylvia, Tina will do anything, we mean, ANYTHING, to get the lead role in her school play. Judy, Tina’s Mother, discovers that her birth mother was a famous actress. Judy decides that she should be famous as well and becomes a Broadway diva.

     BST’s Summer Program is a two-week, full day theatre school for children ages 8 -18 years old. Classes will run Monday thru Friday, June 19th thru June 30th. Each day class begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:30 PM. Each student is to bring a sack lunch for the noon break. A showcase performance will be held on Friday June 30th at 6:00PM.
Students will receive a T-Shirt and two admissions to the showcase. BST will provide a pizza party on Friday, June 30th after class before the performance.

Price and Payment

     The cost of Summer Theatre School is $300.00 with a $25.00 discount for each additional family member. Register before May 26th and receive a $50.00 discount per camper.
Refunds require a 14 day notice prior to the first class.
Partial scholarships are available based on need. Applications are available at the BST Box Office upon request.

Classes

Summer Theatre School classes are designed to give each student a comprehensive theatre education.
Classes include theatre basics such as Acting, Voice, Dance, Improv, Stage Combat and other elective classes that change throughout the 2 weeks to give a more in-depth look into theatre.

Class Size

Enrollment is limited to 60 students to ensure that students receive individualized training. Summer Theatre School must have a minimum of 30 students enrolled to be held.

Deadline

Registration deadline is June 9th. Late registration will only be accepted if space is available.

     For those on the cast list, our first rehearsal will be Saturday, April 29th. The location is NOT BST. It will be at Grace United Methodist at 1935 Avenue B (Just one block north of Grand and two blocks west of West Park Promenade) in the sanctuary on the west side of the building. At 1:00 – 1:30 is a REQUIRED Parent Meeting (unless you can drive yourself to rehearsals), with a read through for the cast 1:30 – 3:00. Rehearsals for leads will be the next day (Sunday, April 30th) but the rest of the cast will start Saturday, May 6th. Rehearsals (until we move to the theatre) will be at Peace Lutheran Church (1301 Avenue D one block north of the IGA on 13th Street West.) Enter at the door nearest the parking lot, and head down the stairs.
